3.6. Track & Time toolbox

The Track & Time toolbox acts a multi-purpose panel providing access to a number of operations.

Figure 3-8. The Track & Time toolbox

The general sequence for using these commands is as follows:

  1. Select the operation to perform

  2. Select which tracks/buoyfields the operation is to be performed on

  3. Select the time period for which the operation is to cover

  4. Press the "Apply" button

As you will see from the screenshot of the Track & Time toolbox, a panel to the right of the list of operations provides details of each operation. These details include the purpose of the operation together with the steps to be taken.

3.6.1. T-Zero times

The Set time zero command reformats the labels on the plot to follow the standard presentation for weapon-analysis plots; where absolute times are replaced by times relative to a specific event (T-Zero)- such as Weapon Splash.

When the Set time zero command is started, the following sequence of events occur:

  1. You are invited to enter the frequency in seconds at which symbols are drawn on the indicated tracks.

  2. You are invited to enter the frequency in seconds at which location labels are displayed for the indicated tracks. In the labels at this indicated frequency the text is set to the elapsed time in seconds since the time-zero time.

These steps are applied to all of the track points between the Start time (which is used as T-Zero) and the Finish time.

Note

Note also that when the date format in the Time Stepper is set to T+ SSS the current time of the time stepper is no longer displayed as absolute time, but as elapsed seconds since the time currently displayed in the Start Time on this panel, or elapsed minutes and seconds (T+ MM:SS).

3.6.2. Filter to time period

The Filter to time period hides all data points on the selected tracks which are before the current Start time, or after the current End time. The range of the time sliders themselves then shrinks to this new period. The range of the time sliders can be reset back out to cover the full period of the currently loaded data by pressing the Reset button.

Note

It is quite possible to apply a time filter such that all of the points in a short track become hidden. In such circumstances the track name is also hidden, but revealed as soon as a single data point becomes visible.

3.6.3. Show time-related variables

The Show Time Variables operation produces an x-y plot of a set of calculated data. After pressing the Apply button the user is invited to indicate which track is to be used as the primary track, and which calculation is to be plotted. The example below shows the results of a Range calculation between two tracks. Note that dragging the mouse downwards in a rectangle inside the plot zooms in on the data, dragging the mouse upwards into a rectangle zooms out on the data, and that the Fit to Window button zooms out to show all of the current data.

3.6.3.1. Time-Variable Plot Tracker-Bar

If there are tracks on the Debrief Tote, a vertical bar is drawn through the plot at the correct time. If the current time on the Tote occurs before the earliest time on the Time-Variable plot then the bar is drawn at the minimum value, and drawn over the maximum value if the current time on the Tote occurs after the latest time value. The bar redraws itself automatically as the time in the Tote changes.

3.6.4. Copy data to clipboard

The details of copying data to the clipboard are covered later in Section 4.3.4 under Copying data to clipboard

3.6.5. Reformat Positions

The Reformat Positions operation allows you to change a formatting characteristic of positions on particular tracks throughout a specific time period.

Suppose that you want to change the colour of a particular track between two time, possibly to indicate an SSK' snort period. First select the SSK track, then the time period for which it was snorting. Next select Apply. A dialog will open asking you what characteristic you wish to change, select Color from this. The next dialog box provides a list of possible values for the selected characteristic: a list of colours in this case. After this selection the relevant positions will be updated. Use Undo to cancel any changes created this way. An example of coloured tracks can be seen in Section 1.3.4 under Select files

3.6.6. Hide/Reveal Objects

This operation allows you to select a series of objects from the track/time toolbox and collectively set them to be visible or invisible. Their previous state is remembered by Debrief so you can quickly and easily perform an Undo operation to reset them.
